There is a place beside Him...

Exodus 33:19-23
(19) And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
(20) And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
(21) And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
(22) And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
(23) And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.




Moses said unto the Lord,

"If You have shown me grace,

Then show me Lord Yourself

And all Your perfect ways.



I don’t want to go one step my Lord,

Without Your Presence here.

Lord I’ve known enough of You to see,

I always need You near."



And Moses asked one more thing of Him:

"Show to me Your glory" –

And God then explained to him,

The blessed redemption story.



“I’ll make my goodness pass by thee,

And will make known My name.

I’ll be gracious and merciful

Unto all of those I claim



But to see the face of God

No man can do today,

But a glimpse of Me is possible –

And I will show the Way.



There is a place beside me,

And on that Rock you’ll stand,

You can hide there in the cleft of Him,

And be covered by My hand.



And when I’ve passed you by you’ll see

My glory on His face -

And through the cross you'll come to know

My mercy and My grace"



Oh even just a glimpse of Him,

Is more than we should know –

Holiness cannot exist

Where sin and evil show.



But I thank God He passed me by,

And let me see Him go,

He hides His Word inside my heart,

That His light might show:



There is a place beside Him,

And on that Rock you’ll stand,

You can hide there in the cleft of Him,

And be covered by His hand.



When He’s passed you by you’ll see

His glory on the face

Of Jesus Christ our Savior –

The blessed gift of faith by grace.
