Thursday morning I was driving to work, and I had just finished reading Psalm 8 before leaving the house:
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
As I was driving, I was getting to see the most beautiful sunrise I had seen in a while. The sunlight was beginning to stretch around the horizon, changing the grey sky and clouds into a beautiful range of purples, pinks, oranges, and yellows.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
As I watched the sunrise, what really caught my breath as just so beautiful were two clouds. They were so close to the sun, and turned towards it just right – and they almost seemed to just be on fire from the glow of the sun. They weren’t just beautiful because they were clouds highlighted or changed by the sun – they were beautiful because they really didn’t even look like clouds anymore, they just looked like more of the sun…
(30) He must increase, but I must decrease. ~ John 3:30
(28) And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
(29) And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses knew not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
~ Exodus 34:28-29
(3) Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
~ Psalms 80:3
Lord, help us turn towards You and spend time with You so we look more like Your Son. Thank You for being mindful enough of us to teach us Your truth.
